Under the Scope: Oilers vs. Ducks

Despite being down 5-3, the Oilers were peppering the Ducks through the first half of the third period. On a wild scramble during an Oiler power play, Jonas Hiller vaulted across the crease to his left post to stop a sure goal that would have put the surging Oilers down by one with seven minutes left to play. Instead, the Ducks added two more goals.

The game was well over but the goal was pretty nonetheless. Bobby Ryan, perched to the right of the LW circle, took the pass from Jason Blake and one-timed it to the top corner past the glove of Jeff Deslauriers.

In his first game back from an ankle sprain suffer last week, Ryan Getzlaf did what he could to show he was ready for the Olympics. Getzlaf scored 2-2-4 in tonight's game after missing the teams' last game vs. Calgary. He gets the MVP nod and might get the Olympic nod.

Teemu Selanne, who is heading to the Olympics to play for Finland alongside teammate Saku Koivu, sits four goals back of Jari Kurri for most goals by a Finnish player (601).
