Five Oilers prospects are suiting up for their respective countries at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan from December 26, 2009 through January 5, 2010.

Team Canada win their 18th consecutive game as they defeat Switzerland by a score of 6-1 this afternoon. They move on to compete for their sixth Gold Medal in a row.

Jordan Eberle gets the crazy Canadian crowd of 13,427 into the game early by picking up the first goal just 3:48 into the opening frame. Ryan Ellis gets the assist and slips into first place in all-time scoring for a defensemen for Team Canada with 14 points. Future 2010 NHL draft pick Taylor Hall was impressive picking up two goals in the game.

In the late game tonight, Sweden lost a tough 5-2 battle against the grinding USA team. Oilers prospect Anton Lander who wears an "A" for Team Sweden was by far the Swedish hero tonight. He picked up both goals for Sweden with four shots, a +1, and the player of the game.  The Sweds will go on to compete for the bronze medal on Monday against Switzerland. Sweden's lone World Junior gold medal came in 1981, and that drought continues.
