The Oilers Ladies have been getting into the spirit of giving through their work with the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton, Ornaments of Hope, the Festival of Trees and now, Suit Yourself. Today four Oilers Ladies joined forces with Suit Yourself to give 20 women total makeovers before they re-enter the workforce.

“These women did not give up to move past some the hard ships they have faced and they deserve this day of pampering,” said Shoena Strudwick. “Suit Yourself is a wonderful organization and they make these women feel that there is someone that will always be there for them.”

The third annual Road to Success Makeover began at 12:30pm and women from Suit Yourself arrived at Pure Elements day spa in Sherwood Park with Oilers lady Shoena Strudwick by limo.

After guest speaker Shirley Burelli gave them a few tips on professionalism and appearance, the Oilers ladies had some well-deserved primping, giving them a new professional look before they begin their new job. All spa services were donated by Pure Elements and at the end of the day, the Oilers ladies sent the women home with a gift bag of socks, mitts and a brand new hand bag, leaving these women with more than a new look, but a another start in life.

“When the women are getting their makeover you can see their self confidence take route,” said Glory Kopinsky, Vice President of Suit Yourself. “Today these women are experiencing a dream come true with a day of pampering they would not have gotten otherwise.”

Suit Yourself is non-profit charitable organization in Edmonton which collects and redistributes quality women’s clothing and accessories to low-income women who are seeking employment and entering the workforce after different life challenges and obstacles.

On December 2, eight of the Oilers Ladies will also be spending an afternoon wrapping Christmas gifts for 630 CHED Santa’s Anonymous. Santa’s Anonymous delivers more than 25,000 brand new toys to less fortunate children within Edmonton and surrounding areas.
