Edmonton Oilers President & CEO Patrick LaForge was out selling newspapers Thursday morning in support of Raise-a-Reader Day.
LaForge joined other local celebrities and the Edmonton Journal editorial team on downtown Edmonton street corners in an effort to exchange newspapers for donations to Raise-a-Reader and to raise awareness and money for children's literacy programs in Edmonton. Hawkers were on hand from 7:00 - 8:30 am with special Raise-a-Reader edition Edmonton Journal newspapers. One-hundred percent of the money contributed in exchange for a paper went directly to children's literacy programs and resources in Edmonton.
