"Were very pleased that Patrick will continue on in his role as President of the Edmonton Oilers," said Cal Nichols, Chairman of the Edmonton Investors Group. "Patrick brings professionalism, leadership, and marketing savvy to the job every day, and its great to know that hell continue doing so for another four years."
As President & CEO of the Edmonton Oilers for the past six years, Patrick LaForge has successfully steered the team through a difficult period in hockey history, while exceeding numerous goals set out by the ownership group. During his tenure as President, Patrick was one of the driving forces behind the Molson Canadian Heritage Classic, the first NHL outdoor game, on November 22, 2003. He also managed to keep local hockey fans entertained during the lockout year by relocating the Road Runners to Rexall Place for a season of exciting AHL hockey. Most recently, Patrick succeeded in landing a WHL franchise for the Edmonton Investors Group, which will begin playing out of Rexall Place in the Fall of 2007.
