This September, professional hockey moves to Grande Prairie, as the Edmonton Oilers relocate training camp for the 2006/2007 NHL season.

The Edmonton Oilers will spend three days conducting on-ice training at the Coca-Cola Arena and the Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie from September 14th – 17th, 2006. A number of special events will also take place during the Oilers visit, including a Hockey Canada Coaches Clinic and the popular Joey Moss Cup intrasquad championship game.

"This is the first time our entire team has visited Grande Prairie, and we cant wait to paint the city copper and blue," said Patrick LaForge, President & CEO of the Edmonton Oilers. "The Grande Prairie region has always been a strong supporter of the Oilers, and were looking forward to spending a few days preparing for the upcoming NHL season in one of the key communities of Oil Country."

Grande Prairie Mayor Wayne Ayling says the city will embrace the idea of an Oilers visit. "It will be so exciting to see the City of Grande Prairie turned into Oilerville for three days in September," Mayor Ayling said. "Its a hockey fans dream. Were fortunate the Stanley Cup finalists have chosen Grande Prairie as the site of their 2006/2007 training camp."

Afternoon – Induction of Grande Prairie Legends of Hockey prior to the Storm game versus the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
Evening – An Evening With The Oilers wine and cheese social in the Canada Games Arena.

Grande Prairie Storm season ticket holders will have first right of refusal for their seats to the Joey Moss Cup on Sunday, September 17th. Season ticket holders have until Saturday, July 22, at 12:00 Noon to claim their seats.

On Monday, July 24, at 10:00 a.m., all unclaimed season ticket seats will become available to people purchasing the Oilers Training Camp Weekend Package. Only 300 Weekend Packages will be available for purchase, and will include admission to all events, including:

• Oilers Training Camp sessions in the Coca-Cola Centre on September 15 & 16
  o An adult ticket to the Grande Prairie Storm Home Opener Weekend doubleheader in the Canada Games Arena, September 15 & 16.
• A ticket to An Evening With The Oilers social on Saturday, September 16, in the Canada Games Arena.
• A ticket to the Joey Moss Cup on Sunday, September 17.

Oilers Weekend Packages can be purchased by contacting the Crystal Centre Box Office at 780-538-0387. Box Office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Fans can purchase Weekend Packages until Saturday, August 12, at 12:00 Noon.

All remaining tickets for Edmonton Oilers Training Camp sessions, An Evening With The Oilers, and The Joey Moss Cup will go on sale to the general public at the Crystal Centre box office on Monday, August 14th at 10:00 a.m.

Proceeds from the Edmonton Oilers Training Camp will go towards Grande Prairie Minor Hockey, the Special Olympics, the Grande Prairie Burn Society, the Sunrise Rotary Club, the Grande Prairie Storm, and the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.
