The Edmonton Oilers Copper Convoy departed from Rexall Place at 12:00 Noon, with a string of 30 private vehicles "Oiler-ized" for the playoffs by diehard fans. The convoy drove down Jasper Avenue, where fans cheered from the sidewalks, before arriving at Sir Winston Churchill Square, where thousands of Oilers fans had gathered for the festivities.

Jacob Boychuks hand painted Ford F-250 was selected as the Grand Prize Winner by the judging panel of Oilers President Patrick LaForge, Oilers Chairman Cal Nichols, and CISN Afternoon Drive announcer Chris Scheetz. The vehicle had been painted in Oilers colors, and a homemade oil derrick had been erected in the bed. As well, Jacob and his crew were dressed head-to-toe in Oilers gear, with their faces painted in copper and blue. For his efforts, Jacob was presented with a pair of Silver Club tickets for tonights sold out Oilers game against the San Jose Sharks.
