On Wednesday, June 3rd some Edmontonians got a big surprise as they picked up their morning double doubles at the Tim Hortons on 185 street and Stony Plain Road. Edmonton Oilers tough guy Steve MacIntyre was helping serve coffee at the drive thru in support of Tim Hortons Camp Day.

“It was a lot of fun to be part of Camp Day and say hello to the customers,” said MacIntyre. “I was pretty nervous working the drive thru; I bet some of the customers got the wrong drinks this morning. I mixed up a few orders.”

Tim Hortons Camp Day is an annual tradition where every cent made from coffee sales is donated to the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation in support of their Kids Camp program. Last year over $8 million was raised on Camp Day allowing 14,000 kids, who could not otherwise afford it, to attend camp.

“I’ve met several campers and it’s very touching to learn how a 10-day camp has affected the rest of their lives,” said Susan Marshall, Tim Hortons Franchisee. “Having MacIntyre here is an extra special treat for our customers. Steve’s been awesome, he’s working the drive thru and our customers are thrilled to see him.”
