On Monday, May 11th, Oilers Zack Stortini, Oil Kings Brett Breitkreuz, Michael Burns and T.J. Foster, the entire Capitals roster and 35 of the teams’ staff participated in the Capital City Clean Up to give Rossdale, the surrounding river valley and neighbouring communities a spring cleaning.

“This is a great opportunity to give back to the community, their support of the Oilers is tremendous - it’s legendary in the NHL,” said Edmonton Oiler Zack Stortini. “Edmonton is such a beautiful city; it’s great to contribute to keeping it clean.”

The community of Rossdale was chosen for the clean up because it plays host to TELUS Field the home of the Edmonton Capitals baseball team. Before starting the community clean up, the players and staff gathered at TELUS Field in the Capitals Picnic Area for a BBQ to kick off the event. The Edmonton Capitals will play their season opener on May 21st.

“Telus Field is a great new facility,” said Stortini. “I’m looking forward to watching games here this summer.”

The Capital City Clean Up program is run by the City of Edmonton and gives all groups interested in beautifying their communities the tools and supplies needed. To learn more about the Capital City Clean Up program visit www.edmonton.ca.
