Oilers propel Canada to gold medal game
Six Oilers players and one Oilers prospect are suiting up for their respective countries at the IIHF World Championships in Switzerland from April 24 to May 10.

In Friday's second semifinal, Canada eliminated Sweden with a confident 3-1 victory, thanks in large part to a pair of Oilers. Shawn Horcoff scored the game-winner in the second period, while Dwayne Roloson stopped 25 shots to secure a berth in the gold medal match. Oilers prospect Linus Omark tallied two shots for Sweden in the game.

Earlier in the day, Russia defeated USA 3-2 in an exciting back-and-forth battle in which Konstantin Gorovikov scored the powerplay game-winner with less than two minutes left in regulation. Oilers defenceman Denis Grebeshkov played 15:09 and finished -1, while Oilers teammate but semifinal foe Patrick O'Sullivan finished even after 22:30 on ice for Team USA.

Horcoff and Roloson will assist Team Canada in their efforts to defeat Grebeshkov and Team Russia for the gold medal Sunday, May 11 at 12:30pm MDT. Sweden and USA do battle for bronze that same day at 8am MDT.
