Power of 10,000 caps returns to Rexall
Caps for Cancer Fundraiser set for Monday's game vs. Boston
This year proceeds from the sale of 10,000 caps, each with an Edmonton Oilers player signature, will be distributed to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Kids with Cancer Society and charities supported by the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.
Many Oilers fans will have noticed the NHL Hockey Fights Cancer campaigns at various NHL arenas during the month of October and Monday is Edmonton’s turn at supporting Hockey Fights Cancer. Coaches and other executives will be wearing this year’s Hockey Fights Cancer ties as will other senior Oilers executives and following the game the ties will be a part of the annual Oilers On Line Caps for Cancer auction. The On Line auction is currently underway and runs through November 6th at www.edmontonoilers.com.
“This is such an important and effective project we undertake,” stated Natalie Minckler, Executive Director of the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation. “The players and the Oilers Ladies drive the project by signing 10,000 hats, and then we sell them for $25 dollars each.”
Ornella Moreau, wife of Oilers captain Ethan Moreau added, “Last year we raised over $200,000 dollars and we hope to shatter that record this year. Pink and blue signed hats will be available on the concourse at Monday’s game against the Bruins and for the past two years we have sold out before puck drop which speaks to the level of support we get for Caps for Cancer. We all take a lot of pride in making this a big success.”
