NHL Central Scouting's Chris Edwards:
"Philippe moves the puck well, especially on the power-play. While not a great skater – he has a short stride – he can keep up the pace in a quick game with some deceptive speed. He is not an overly physical player and needs to work on winning the one-on-one battles to take his game to the next level."
Cornet on his style of play:
"I find my strengths are with the puck and puck control. I'm good in the corners and win my battles one–on–one. I'm a good scorer and moving the puck is one of my strengths. I need to work on my skating – I need to be a bit faster. More hitting would be a good aspect to improve on as well as improve my shot."
Cornet talks about when he first thought he could make the NHL:
"When I was 14 years old – I left home to go to Montréal, which is five hours from my home so I could play at a higher level. Then I found an agent and we were just talking and I realized that it was maybe possible to have a chance to be drafted. It was at that point I thought I could maybe become a hockey player."
