Oilers development camp opens June 1
PrintSteve Serdachny, the Oilers Skating and Skills Coach, will run the on-ice sessions at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park, Alberta, while off-ice training sessions will be held at both Foote Field on the campus of the University of Alberta and at the Oilers fitness centre at Rexall Place, under the guidance of Oilers Strength and Conditioning Consultant Chad Moreau and Scott Hoyer, the team’s Fitness Coordinator.
A total of 26 players will be attending the camp, including eight of the Oilers’ 10 draft choices from the 2006 and 2007 NHL Entry Drafts. Four of Edmonton’s five selections from the 2006 NHL Entry Draft will be at the camp as well as four of the six picks from last season’s draft.
Nine of the players coming to camp played part or all of the 2007-08 season with the Springfield Falcons, the Oilers’ American Hockey League affiliate. Included in the nine is defenceman Theo Peckham, who made his NHL debut with the Oilers last season.
