Oilers at the World Championships
Defenceman Denis Grebeshkov helps Russia earn first Gold since 1993
Oilers defenceman Denis Grebeshkov was a member of the Gold-Medal winning Russian squad, which won after beating Canada 5-4 in overtime on Sunday. He finished third in the tournament in plus/minus at +12 in nine games. He was also tied for 13th in the tournament in assists with six.
For Team Canada, Steve Staios finished with a +9 rating in nine games. Sam Gagner played once and had no points.
Robert Nilsson had two goals and six points and is +5 in nine games for the Swedes.
Matt Greene and Tom Gilbert's Team USA was eliminated Wednesday by Finland in the quarter-finals. Gilbert finished the tournament with four points in seven games plus 15 shots on goal. He was second among US blueliners in points and assists and first in shots. Greene remains tournament leader with 38 penalty minutes.
