Theo Peckham recalled from Springfield

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Theo Peckham from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis.

Signed to a three-year entry level contract last May, the 6’2”, 223-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario was the Oilers second choice (3rd round), 75th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Making his professional debut this season with Springfield, Peckham has scored 6-4-10 with 113 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Falcons. He is second on the Springfield roster in penalty minutes and has scored two powerplay goals.

Prior to turning pro this season, Peckham played three seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s Owen Sound Attack from 2004-05 to 2006-07. He scored 17-43-60 in 181 career OHL games with 618 penalty minutes. Twice he registered 200-or-more penalty minutes in a season, including a career-high 236 in 2005-06. He added 1-7-8 with 40 penalty minutes in 23 career OHL playoff games.

Peckham enjoyed his most productive season with Owen Sound in 2006-07, scoring a single-season career-high 35 points in 53 games. The 20-year-old defenceman established career-highs in both goals and assists with 10 goals and 25 assists, while registering 173 penalty minutes.
