Oilers recall Allan Rourke from Springfield
The Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Allan Rourke from the Springfield Falcons and assigned defenceman Bryan Young to their American Hockey League affiliate. The 6’1”, 215-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario has scored 3-4-7 in 12 games with Springfield this season while registering six penalty minutes. Rourke is fourth on the Falcons’ scoring list and is first among defencemen, while ranking fourth in goals and sixth in assists. His seven points places him 12th in scoring among all AHL blueliners.

Rourke was obtained from the New York Islanders on July 5, 2007 along with a third round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for the Oilers second round pick in the 2008 draft.

Rourke played 11 games with the Islanders in 2006-07, scoring one assist with four penalty minutes. The 27-year-old defenceman, also registered 5-15-20 with 60 penalty minutes in 60 games for New York’s American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport. He has scored 1-4-5 with 26 penalty minutes in 42 career NHL games with Carolina and the Islanders.

Young was scoreless in two games with the Oilers after being recalled from Springfield on November 4th.
