The Edmonton Oilers return home following a three-game road trip, kicking off a two-game homestand beginning tonight against the Colorado Avalanche.
The Oilers fell 4-1 to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night and before that, they defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 4-2 on Thursday – ending a four-game losing streak. The Oilers sit in 12th in the Western Conference and last in the Northwest Division but a win could vault them into a tie with the Avalanche for eighth spot and third in the Northwest.
Colorado is looking for its first win on a current four-game road trip. They lost 5-3 in Chicago on Friday night and fell 3-2 in Minnesota on Sunday. Tonight is game three for the Avs.
Tonight is the first of eight meetings this season between Edmonton and Colorado. Last year, each team won four times.
