Oilers announce first assignments
The Edmonton Oilers 2007 training camp roster stands at 47 players with the assignment of 14 players and the addition of one.

Right winger Anson Carter joined the Edmonton training camp roster on a NHL pro try-out prior to today’s training session, bringing the roster to 61 players.

Following the third day of training camp, the Oilers have assigned 10 players to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League and returned three players to their respective junior teams and one player to his team in Sweden.

Among the 10 players sent to Springfield were one goaltender, four defencemen and five forwards. Assigned to Edmonton’s AHL affiliate were Rick Berry (D), Glenn Fisher (G), Stephane Goulet (LW), Colin McDonald (RW), Jacob Micflikier (LW), Geoff Paukovich (LW), Theo Peckham (D), T.J. Reynolds (D), David Rohlfs (RW) and Allan Rourke (D).

Players returned to their junior teams were Vitaly Karamnov (C, Everett, WHL), Milan Kytnar (C, Kelowna, WHL) and Bryan Pitton (G, Brampton, OHL).

Left winger William Quist was returned to Linkopings HC of the Swedish Elitserien.

The Oilers open their 2007 NHL pre-season schedule tomorrow night as they host the Florida Panthers at Rexall Place at 7:00 p.m. It is one of two pre-season games the Oilers will host this week as the Toronto Maple Leafs will visit Rexall Place on Tuesday, September 18th (7:00 pm).
