Oilers obtain Blake Evans from St. Louis

The Edmonton Oilers have obtained forward Blake Evans from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for future considerations.
The 61", 210-pound native of Smiley, Saskatchewan is currently with the Peoria Rivermen and will remain with the Blues American Hockey League affiliate.

The 25-year-old has played in all 26 of the Rivermens games this season and is currently ninth in scoring with four goals and seven assists for 11 points. He is second on the team in plus/minus at +6 and has registered 35 penalty minutes.
A ninth round draft choice of the Washington Capitals in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Evans began his professional career in 2001 signing with St. Louis as a free agent on April 11, 2001.
Playing the last four seasons in the St. Louis organization system with stops in Worcester and Peoria of the AHL and Peoria of the ECHL, Evans has scored 56-80-136 and has 125 penalty minutes in 279 career AHL games. He has added 2-3-5 and 12 penalty minutes in 16 Calder Cup playoff games.
With Worcester in 2003-04, he scored a career-high 21-23-44 in 80 games and was named the IceCats most valuable player.
Evans played five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Spokane, Tri-City and Regina from 1996-97 to 2000-01 and scored 120-163-283 in 337 games. He was named to the WHLs East Division second all-star team in 2000-01 when he scored a career-high 52-50-102 in 67 games with Tri-City and Regina.
