Oilers recall Syvret and Smith
Defencemen Marc-Andre Bergeron and Cory Cross have been placed on the NHL Injured Reserve List after suffering injuries in the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 overtime win last night in Detroit.

With the injuries, Edmonton has recalled defencemen Dan Smith and Dan Syvret from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Bergeron suffered a fractured finger on his left hand when blocking a shot in the third period and Cross suffered a sprain of the medial collateral ligament of his left knee.

Smith (62", 200 lbs.) has played nine games for Hamilton this season and has scored one assist with eight penalty minutes. Syvret (511", 203 lbs.), the Oilers third choice in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, will be making his NHL debut with the Oilers. He has one assist with six penalty minutes in seven games with the Bulldogs.

Both Smith and Syvret will join the Oilers in St. Louis for their game against the Blues tonight as the Oilers continue their seven-game road trip. The Oilers opened their longest road trip of the season with a 4-3 OT win at Detroit last night (Nov. 3) and extended their current winning streak to a season-high four games with the victory.

Following tonights game at St. Louis the Oilers will continue their road trip with games at Dallas (Nov. 7), Nashville (Nov. 8), Columbus (Nov. 11), Chicago (Nov. 13) and Colorado (Nov. 14) before returning home for a three-game homestand that will open against Detroit on Thursday, November 17th at Rexall Place.
