Oilers Make Cuts

The Edmonton Oilers have reduced their roster to 37 players with the assignment of seven players and the release of an eighth.
The Oilers have assigned six players to American Hockey League teams and one to his junior team.
Assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs was Jordan Little (D). Four players were assigned to Edmontons newest AHL affiliate, the Iowa Stars as Dan Baum (C), Toby Petersen (C), Jason Platt (D) and Kenny Smith (D) will join the affiliate the Oilers share with the Dallas Stars.
Left wing Nate DiCasmirro was assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and Troy Bodie (LW) was returned to the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.
Defenceman Mike Gabinet was released outright.
With the latest assignments, the Oilers roster stands at 37 players with five goaltenders, 11 defencemen and 21 forwards remaining in camp.
Edmonton continues its eight-game pre-season schedule tomorrow night when they visit the Calgary Flames for a 7:00 pm face-off at the Pengrowth Saddledome. It is the first of three consecutive games against the Flames as the Oilers will return to Rexall Place to host the Flames on Tuesday, September 27th to conclude the home portion of their pre-season schedule. The provincial rivals will meet again in Calgary on Wednesday, September 28th and the Oilers conclude the pre-season at Vancouver on Saturday, October 1st.
The Oilers are 2-1-1 following their first four games of the pre-season.
