PRE-GAME NOTES

The Edmonton Oilers take on the Los Angeles Kings for the second time this season. We'll be updating the action from the game as it happens. We'll also be adding photos, videos from big plays and more throughout the game.

FIRST PERIOD

20:00: The puck has dropped for tonight's game.

16:34: Jordan Eberle takes a pass from Taylor Hall and wires a shot off the post. The puck then ricochets out of the rink.

15:48: Eberle is hauled down in front of the Kings net by Jeff Carter, giving Edmonton the game's first power play.

12:08: Yakupov's initial shot is stopped by Jonathan Quick. Chris VandeVelde pounces on the rebound and Quick dives across to make a nice save on that one too.

4:20: Hemsky gets hit in the face with the puck and skates to the bench for some attention from the medical staff.

1:16: Dustin Brown steps on Jeff Petry's stick and Petry receives a penalty as a result, giving Los Angeles its first power play of the game.

0:00: Oilers outshoot the Kings 9-8 in the opening period.

FIRST PERIOD NOTES

Kings had 11 hits in the opening frame, Oilers had 9.

SECOND PERIOD

20:00: The second period is now underway.

15:16: The Kings strike for the game's first goal. During a wild scramble in front of Khabibulin, Colin Fraser pounced on a bouncing puck and chopped it past the Oilers netminder for the goal. | LA 1, EDM 0

14:09: Taylor Hall skates in all alone with a chance to get the tying goal but loses control of the puck just as he's about to make his move.

10:15: Shots on goal through the first half of the middle frame is 13 to 1 for the Kings.

7:29: Fraser clobbers an Oilers player into the boards behind the Kings net, putting the Oilers back on the power play.

6:28: A minute later, the Oilers get two for having too many men on the ice.

5:22: Just after the Fraser penalty expires, L.A.'s power play is shortlived. Jeff Carter takes a hooking penalty to make it four-on-four once again followed by a 1:06 Oilers man advantage.

4:00: Drewiske clears the puck over the glass from his own zone, giving the Oilers a 37-second two-man advantage.

3:10: Sam Gagner fires a wrist shot from the top of the left circle that beats Quick to the short side to tie the game. | EDM 1, LA 1

2:00: Shots are 23 to 15 for the Kings late in the frame.

0:00: Period comes to a close.

SECOND PERIOD NOTES

Kings had a 13-1 advantage in shots at one point in the period but Oilers rallied and outshot L.A. 7-2 through the period's final eight minutes.

THIRD PERIOD

20:00: The third period is now underway.

17:07: Hall is robbed in front of the net by Quick after a nice pass from RNH behind the cage.

12:49: Khabibulin extends out hs left leg to make a a nice save on a rebound off Trevor Lewis.

7:27: With seven minutes to go, shots on goal are 32 to 24 for the Kings as they start putting the pressure on Khabibulin.

2:10: The game intensifies as both teams are hungry for a game winning goal.

0:49: Jeff Carter slips one in with left than a minute left on the clock, assted by Lewis.
