Season Series: Tonight is the first of four meetings this season between Oklahoma City and Grand Rapids. Last season, the two teams met eight times with each side coming away with four wins. Two of the wins by Grand Rapids came in a shootout.

Big Story: The Barons and Griffins come into this game with 38 points apiece. The Griffins are first in the Midwest Division, two points up on Rockford. Oklahoma City has a real opportunity this weekend to make a play for top spot in the South Division. They currently sit three points behind Charlotte with two games in hand. With three games in three days this weekend and the Checkers visiting Oklahoma City next weekend, they can make a serious move with some wins.

Team Scope:

Barons: The Barons have won four out of their last five games and overall have picked up at least a point in seven of their last nine games (6-2-0-1). Their last game out was a 4-2 loss to Houston on January 1.

Griffins: Grand Rapids has won five of their last six games with their most recent being a 3-1 win over Rockford to claim top spot in the Midwest Division on New Year's Eve. The Griffins will be looking to get two points out of this contest tonight as seven of their next eight games are on the road. Gustav Nyquist is the Griffins' leading scorer with 29 points in 30 games (10g, 19a). The Barons have five players with a better point-per-game average than Nyquist and four with more points than the Griffins forward.
