With just under nine minutes in the game, Ryan Callahan came down the ice on a breakaway and could have netted the go-ahead goal. Luckily for the Oilers, Ben Scrivens was up to the challenge.
The goaltender made a toe save on the attempt and shutdown the US Olympian. He commented on the shot after the game.
“He’s a good player,” Scrivens said. “He pump faked a little bit so you had to be wary of the shot and try to bite enough so you can make that save if he does follow through, but keep enough momentum and keep the ability to move just in case he didn’t. I was fortunate to get a toe on it. He’s a good player and I was lucky to come out on the right end of that one.”
