Edmonton Oilers 2013 first round pick, Darnell Nurse, played two of the three games at the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, B.C. Oilers Prospects Head Coach, Todd Nelson, liked what he saw from the rookie in his first game action with the team especially the improvement over the week.
“That first game I think everybody had the jitters,” said Nelson. “As we saw over the past couple of games, guys kind of settled in. Darnell looked more comfortable out there and I thought he played well”
Nurse was happy with the way camp went for him and with the level of competition.
“It was exciting,” said Nurse. “The pace is pretty fast. Everybody was out there competing and it was just that atmosphere that you want to go into when you’re preparing for camp. This was the best way to do it.”
