• Gardiner was an assistant captain with Team West at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, scoring three points (2-1—3) in five games.

• In 2011-12, he tallied 40 points (19-21—40) in 36 regular-season games with the Saskatoon Contacts and posted seven points (3-4—7) in seven games at the 2012 Telus Cup, helping his club capture a bronze medal at the national Midget AAA championship.

• Gardiner comes from an athletic family. His brother, Erik, was selected by Prince Albert in the second round (35th overall) of the 2013 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft and his father, Shaun, played five years of football at the University of Saskatchewan.
