Lowe on Adding Omark to Mix

Kevin Lowe addressed edmontonoilers.com on the signing of Linus Omark to a one-year, two-way contract this evening at the Team Canada Olympic Orientation Camp in Calgary.

The Edmonton Oilers President of Hockey Operations said:

“Linus had gone to Europe for a couple of years and tried that out but it’s nice to hear that he really wants to play in the National Hockey League. We all know he’s a talented player. He played really well for us in the American League. I know that Todd Nelson and the coaching staff there were very happy with him.

“Craig MacTavish values his ability and he’s going to give him an opportunity to come into camp and make the hockey team. So, I think it’s just another piece that we’ve added, another player with high skill level obviously. It’s going to make Dallas Eakins’ job that much more difficult in terms of selecting his team.”

The Oilers selected the Swedish forward in the 4th round, 97th overall in the 2007. He spent two seasons with the Oilers from 2010-2012 where he recorded 30 points (8-22-30) in 65 games.
